1. Non-Surgical Treatment

Treatments we offer

Small Kidney Stones can be treated without surgery by following their doctor’s advice which includes drinking plenty of water, taking medications for fever, discomfort, and vomiting, and certain diet modifications – including less salt and protein.

2. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)

Treatments we offer

This treatment uses sound waves to break down large stones so that they can easily pass down through the ureters and into the bladder. A machine called a lithotripter is used to aim the sound waves directly at the stones, through the body. This treatment takes about 45 minutes to an hour and is performed under general anaesthesia.

3. Tunnel Surgery

Treatments we offer

This procedure is also called percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Here the stones are removed through a small incision in the back to reach the kidney. A telescope and other surgical instruments are inserted through the incision for the removal of the stones. This surgery is recommended when ESWL is unsuccessful. It is done under general anaesthesia and hospitalization may be required.

4. Ureteroscopy/ Laser Lithotripsy

Treatments we offert

When a stone is stuck in the ureter or the bladder, the doctors may use an instrument called an ureteroscope to remove it. It is a thin tube with an attached camera that is passed into the bladder and ureter through the urethra. Once the stone is located, a laser or other instruments are used to trap or break the stones into smaller pieces enabling them to pass through the urine.

5. Laser Lithotripsy

Treatments we offer

This is done to break down stones in the kidneys or ureters so that they can move through the ureters and into the urine. In this procedure, no incisions are performed, and a ureteroscope is put into the ureter to the kidney. Once the stone has been detected by the doctor, a fibre is passed via the ureteroscope to the stone, creating a laser beam. This laser beam fragments the stone, which is subsequently collected in a basket linked to the ureteroscope and removed. If any of the exceedingly small sand-like particles left over from the laser beam breakdown are not removed, they can easily pass through the urine. The doctor may place a stent in the ureter for a few days to keep it from collapsing and to facilitate the flow of stone pieces shattered by the laser beam.
6. Kidney Surgery

Treatments we offer

Some calcium phosphate stones are caused by overactive parathyroid glands. When too much parathyroid hormone is produced (hyperparathyroidism) by these glands, the calcium levels in the body can rise and kidney stones may develop. Removing the parathyroid gland in such cases can help prevent the formation of kidney stones.

What is a Kidney Stone?

Kidney stones, also known as renal calculi, are stones that can develop in either the kidneys or the ureters. The kidneys, a pair of bean-shaped organs located in the abdomen, are responsible for removing wastes from the blood through the production of urine. Urine from the kidney travels to the urinary bladder via the ureters, and when the bladder is full, one urinates via the urethra. When urine contains more salts and minerals, they build up in the kidneys or ureter and form kidney stones, which can cause severe pain and discomfort.
