Treatments we offer
A traditional way to treat tonsils, this procedure involves the removal of tonsils under the influence of general anaesthesia. A tube is placed into the windpipe to enable external respiration followed by which tonsils are cut and removed with the help of forceps and the wound is closed with stitches.
Treatments we offer
It is similar to scalpel surgery, except for the fact that the tonsils are burned away during the procedure for the wound to stop bleeding.
Treatments we offer
This method involves a microdebrider which is a rotary device used to shave the tonsillar tissue.
Treatments we offer
This is one of the latest techniques wherein radiofrequency waves are projected on the targeted tissue to reduce the size of the tonsils to remove it completely.
Treatments we offer
A scalpel with a higher vibrating frequency is used in this process wherein its energy is focused on the affected tissue using a special blade. It not only helps in cutting the tissue but also prevents bleeding.
Treatments we offer
The affected tissue is cut focusing a high beam of light energy on it with proper precision by our skilled surgeons.
What is Tonsillectomy?
Tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure performed for the removal of tonsils. Tonsils are two oval-shaped lumps of tissues at the back of the throat which play an important role in guarding our immune system.
Tonsillectomy is done to treat recurring infections in the tonsils from a young age. It is also done to treat multiple peritonsillar abscesses, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, and the PFPA syndrome - Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis, and Adenitis.
The symptoms of Tonsillitis include recurring throat pain, fever, difficulty in swallowing and white or yellow residue on the tonsils.
You are advised to stop consuming any medication like pain killers and blood thinner, two weeks before the surgery.
Our surgeon advises you to be on an empty stomach and may ask you to fast for 8 to 10 hours to reduce any potential risk from the anaesthesia.
On completion of the surgery, you will be assisted to the recovery room to get your pulse rate, blood pressure and body temperature monitored under expert supervision and will be given adequate pain killers for relief.
Once discharged, you will be given pain killers to reduce the pain along with fluids to avoid dehydration. Additionally, you will be required to make dietary changes like eating easy-to-follow food, avoiding hot and spicy dishes, and we would also recommend refraining from strenuous activities.
The post-surgery recovery time could be between 4 to 6 weeks depending on the severity of the case.
